How to clean your fireplace?

Here are a few helpful tips to keep your fireplace in mint condition. Always be sure to do a test patch in an inconspicuous area of your fireplace first to ensure no bleaching occurs.

Marble
To clean marble simply wash with washing up liquid. Polish marble once or twice a year. Ensure to use the correct polish for your chimneypiece whether it be a matt or glossy finish.

Cast Iron
Always use a specified cast iron cleaning product. Such products are available from many fireplace shops throughout the country. Before cleaning, ensure that all rust patches are removed.

Slate
Slate is easily cleaned with baby oil or 3-in-1 oil.

Ceramic Tiles
To clean ceramic tiles use washing up liquid. Never apply a damp cloth to the tiles while they are still hot as it may cause them to crack. When the tiles are dry lightly polish with a soft duster.

Brass Trims
Brasso, or any equivalent products are best for cleaning brass on fireplaces. Always use a soft cloth to avoid scratching the brass.
